Our store provides the purest of Internationally certified organic cotton baby clothes and accessories for the first year of life. The clothes are designed by a young awarded Australian designer and made by our manufacturers in a strongly ethically-based unit in South India where Shibu (an Indian national) and Pauline (Australian) live.
Shibu and I feel a strong commitment to the well-being of this planet. We appreciate the beauty of this world and feel a responsibility to pass this on to future generations without damage. Our research showed us that many current cotton farming and clothing manufacturing processes, (which commonly use pesticides and chemical fertilizers), are causing great harm to the environment. As well, these processes pose a health risk to farmers, to the workers in the industry and to the wearers of the garments. We realized that for us to enter the clothing industry only organic cotton would be safe and acceptable to use. Many of the dying processes of coloured cotton garments use strong chemical dyes which could harm the delicate skin of babies, and cause health problems for the workers in the industry. Run –off from factory units using such strong dyes kills life in river systems, something we had witnessed with devastating results in textile towns in India. By taking our first small step to make changes we hope to play our part in making a better world for future generations. This was how our partnership began and we decided to begin with organic cotton baby clothes which have not been chemically dyed to ensure the purest product we could offer to our children.
