Our skilled artisans have handcrafted this beautiful organic ant shirt for kids using 100% organic cotton and block printed them by hand with our unique Ant design. They are beautifully soft as the cotton has been handspun and the fabric handwoven. Handwoven fabrics are naturally more breathable which means that this shirt will keep your child lovely and cool on warm days. They are (of course) ethically made, fair trade and traceable so that you can explore their life story and ‘meet’ the people involved. We have a range of sizes and the shirt is a great all-year-rounder – simply put a long-sleeved top underneath in cooler weather!

Hi, I’m Jo Salter, Founder of Where Does It Come From?

I was concerned that the clothes I was buying for myself and my family were not being created ethically, and that I may indirectly be helping to sustain cruel labour practices and contributing to the world’s pollution problems. The Where Does It Come From? strategy has three main goals:

Firstly we work with Social Enterprises to produce our clothing, ensuring that all the workers have pay and working conditions according to fair trade principles. We provide work for cotton farmers, spinners and weavers in co-operatives set up to empower rural women, and small artisan printers, dyers and tailors.

Secondly we focus on protecting our environment. We use low water and carbon processes, non-toxic dyes and organic cotton as we want to have as low a negative impact as possible. We encourage our customers to keep their items longer and pass them on when finished with them. We run a ‘preloved’ shop to support this.

Thirdly, we share the whole story of our garment creation. We hope that these stories will educate and interest – especially the children – and inspire people to shop differently. We believe that having better relationships with our clothes makes us happier too!
