Organic Cotton Face Masks: A set of four masks, face coverings are now recommended as a key way to protect ourselves and others from

COVID 19.  (See the findings of The Royal Society on the benefits of personal use face masks).

There are a growing number for sale, in a wide variety of fabrics and designs.  As lovers of natural fabrics, we believe that it’s important to choose a mask that will cut down on the harmful chemicals that we’ll be breathing in, as well as providing a filter for health protection.

Where Does It Come From has partnered with our friends at Khadi London to design a personal use face mask that is:

🌱created from 100% organic cotton
🌱grown from a seed native to Maharashtra, India
🌱fed by the rain and with no chemical pesticides,
🌱spun and woven by hand into the fabric,
🌱without bleach or dyes or other additives,
🌱without any plastic,
🌱in a social enterprise providing rural livelihoods.

With a double layer of handwoven fabric, our organic cotton face masks offer protection for personal use whilst being comfortable, natural and re-usable. The string ties mean the size can be easily adjusted.

Each pack purchased will give a donation to UK charity The Trussell Trust and the khadi social enterprise in India Gram Sewa Mandal, Gopuri where the cotton is grown and processed.

The masks are being sewn in the UK right now and we will fulfil orders as quickly as possible.

We really appreciate your custom and we want to make sure you are delighted with your purchase. Occasionally though, you may wish to change your mind. Please click here to review our returns policy.

Hi, I’m Jo Salter, Founder of Where Does It Come From?

I was concerned that the clothes I was buying for myself and my family were not being created ethically, and that I may indirectly be helping to sustain cruel labour practices and contributing to the world’s pollution problems. The Where Does It Come From? strategy has three main goals:

Firstly we work with Social Enterprises to produce our clothing, ensuring that all the workers have pay and working conditions according to fair trade principles. We provide work for cotton farmers, spinners and weavers in co-operatives set up to empower rural women, and small artisan printers, dyers and tailors.

Secondly we focus on protecting our environment. We use low water and carbon processes, non-toxic dyes and organic cotton as we want to have as low a negative impact as possible. We encourage our customers to keep their items longer and pass them on when finished with them. We run a ‘preloved’ shop to support this.

Thirdly, we share the whole story of our garment creation. We hope that these stories will educate and interest – especially the children – and inspire people to shop differently. We believe that having better relationships with our clothes makes us happier too!
